That Understanding Laugh

There’s a laugh I’ve come to recognise that comes when an understanding has occurred, an understanding that needs no words.

This laugh bubbles up spontaneously, surprising even the laugher. It is unforced and free from conditioning. The atmosphere immediately relaxes as striving for understanding comes to an end, and there’s a sure but gentle certainty that the other has understood something.

No explanation necessary, and it is not something based on unquestioned or unspoken assumptions, it just that specific laugh accompanied by a twinkle in the eye that signifies understanding between two souls.
